Candle Care

Simple Candle Care:

In order to have a great experience with your candle you must treat your candle with care. Here are a few  important tips on how to care for your candle and get the best experience out of your candle.

Use your candle lid to snuff your candle:

Using your candle lid to snuff your candle flame prevents debris from getting in your candle. Once you snuff your candle using your lid, be sure to remove the lid so you don't smother  your candle with smoke and cause fragrance loss.

Keep the wick trimmed to the suggested lenght:

Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch at all times. It is suggested to trim the wick every 4 hours of burn time. When wick trimming, you should always extinguish the flame, let the candle come to room temperature, and trim the wick before relighting. Keeping your wick trimmed also prevent black rings from forming around your candle jar.

Use a wick trimmer for a more even trim:

For best results and a more even trim, try using a wick trimmer. If you don't have a wick trimmer you may use scissors or a nail clipper.

Candles should not be burned for more than four hours at a time:

It is recommended that after burning for four hours, candles be extinguished, allowed to cool for two hours, and trimmed before relighting.

When to discontinue candle use:

For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 2 inches of wax remain (1/2 inch if in a container). This will also help prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface and prevent glass containers from cracking or breaking. Never touch or move a votive or container candle when the wax is liquid.

Always burn candles well away from drafts, other heat sources, and anything flammable. Make sure burning candles are out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

How to properly store your candle:

The candle wax and fragrance oils we use in our candles are sensitive to both temperature and light, so please be careful when storing candles for an extended period of time. If you store your candle, be sure it is in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or intense light. Keeping it in a dark place like a cupboard or box will protect it from fading and discoloration.

Since candles can be sensitive to extreme cold and heat, it’s best to store them between 50ºF and 85ºF. And be sure not to leave our candles in your car for an extended period of time (particularly on hot days) as they may melt or discolor. Extreme cold causes cracking and separation, so it’s best to follow our temperature guidelines. After long exposure to the cold, you should allow the candle to return to room temperature for a minimum of 2 hours before burning it to minimize potential damage.
